about us

Donna and Dennis met 43 years ago (WOW!) in Littleton, Colorado.  Married in 1968 (that’s 42 years and counting), Dennis was drafted less than a month after they married and they spent most of their first 2 years in Fayetteville, No. Carolina, while Dennis served in the 12th Support Brigade, XVIIIth Airborne Corps (1969-1971).

They have 2 great sons, 2 great daughters-in-law, and 4 fantastic grandchildren.

Pinky and Blackie (aka, Ivory & Ebony) both joined the family as rescued feral felines and they thoroughly enjoy the love lavished on them.

Donna and Dennis left Colorado in 1992, and sailed aboard their self-built Bruce Roberts 38 ft. fiberglass ketch, “Donna’s Diamond”, to the Bahamas, returning a year later to Rockport, Texas, where their voyage had originated.  Two more trips to the Bahamas - in 1999 to celebrate the Y2K and again in 2002 - saw “Donna’s Diamond” sail straight across the Gulf of Mexico, voyages of over 1200 Nautical Miles each way.

Donna served as Vice President of Southwest Medical Associates, where she handled their program marketing and managed operations before retiring.  A veteran in medical administration, she served in various positions in management prior to her 17 years as VP and Director at SWM.  She is an ASA Graduate and not only a good helmsperson but also a chef extraordinaire!

Dennis formed Mustang Island Yachts in 1996, and brokered used pleasure vessels for 14 years.  He obtained his USCG Captain’s License and gained a Certified Professional Yacht Broker’s (CPYB) certification.  He also served as Rear Commodore, Vice Commodore, and Commodore of Rockport Yacht Club.  He has played the guitar for more than 50 years and did so professionally for more than 10 years.

They purchased Caribbean Soul in November, 2009, and Dennis retired and readied the boat for an entire year before setting out together on the adventure of a lifetime!

the happy family...
